Lifetime Free Train Travel for Gallantry Award Winners and Families
The Indian government will grant lifetime free train travel to winners of gallantry awards and their families, as announced by the Ministry of Railways. This initiative aims to honor the bravery and sacrifices made by these individuals in service to the nation.
“The decision reflects our commitment to recognize the valor of our armed forces and paramilitary personnel,” said a senior official from the Ministry. The scheme is expected to benefit a significant number of awardees and their dependents.
Eligible gallantry awards include the Param Vir Chakra, Ashoka Chakra, and other similar honors. Families of awardees will also be included in this travel scheme, allowing for a broader recognition of their sacrifices.
This move comes as part of a series of welfare measures aimed at supporting military personnel and veterans. The government has previously announced various initiatives to improve the quality of life for those who serve the nation.
In recent years, the Indian government has taken several steps to honor and support its armed forces, including financial benefits, health services, and housing assistance. The new travel benefit is seen as an important addition to these ongoing efforts.
