Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Returns to Connecticut with New Acts
Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey is set to return to Connecticut for the first time in years, performing at two arenas with brand-new acts. The legendary circus will visit the XL Center in Hartford and the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport from January 27 to February 11, 2024. This comeback marks an effort to revitalize the iconic brand after a hiatus that began in 2017.
The circus promises a lineup of fresh performances, including acrobats, animal acts, and thrill displays. “We are excited to bring a new experience to families in Connecticut, combining tradition with innovation,” said a spokesperson for the show.
The return comes as part of a nationwide tour that aims to engage younger audiences and reintroduce the circus to a new generation. The performances will feature state-of-the-art technology and new animal welfare practices, following previous concerns regarding animal treatment in circuses.
Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey, known as “The Greatest Show on Earth,” originally closed in 2017 amid rising costs and dwindling ticket sales. After a reevaluation of its offerings, the circus now seeks to balance entertainment with ethical practices, such as using only human performers in its acts and eliminating animal performances entirely.
The circus has a storied history dating back to the 19th century and has entertained millions of families across America. Its latest endeavor represents a significant shift in focus, aiming to adapt to contemporary values while still honoring its rich tradition.
