The Coast Guard Academy tennis team opened its New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) season with a 6-3 loss to Emerson College on Saturday at home. Despite the setback, Coast Guard’s Reice secured a victory in singles play.

Reice’s win came in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, marking a bright spot for the team. However, the overall match saw Emerson dominate in doubles, winning all three matches and establishing an early lead.

In singles, Coast Guard struggled, with only two additional victories from Michael and Jack. Michael won his match 6-4, 7-5, while Jack secured a 7-5, 6-3 win. The team’s inability to capture doubles points proved critical in the outcome.
