Maryland FFA Students Participate in State Spring Judging Events
Students from various Maryland FFA chapters participated in the State Spring Judging Events held on April 15, 2023, at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. This annual competition showcases skills in agriculture, horticulture, and livestock management.
“These events are vital for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in agricultural education,” said Maryland FFA Executive Director, Joe Smith.
Competitions included categories such as animal judging, plant identification, and soil evaluation. Participants had the opportunity to earn awards and scholarships, while enhancing their understanding of agricultural practices.
Over 300 students took part in this year’s events, representing more than 40 chapters across the state. The competition also fosters teamwork and leadership among participants.
The Maryland FFA, established in 1929, is a student-led organization that promotes agricultural education and leadership development among students. The State Spring Judging Events have been a staple in the FFA calendar, helping students prepare for careers in agriculture.
As part of their experience, students also attended workshops designed to improve their skills and network with industry professionals. The event is part of a broader initiative to support youth engagement in agriculture across Maryland.
