St. Mary’s Students Visit Red Roses Ahead of Six Nations
Students from St. Mary’s University in Twickenham, London, engaged in a behind-the-scenes experience with the England women’s rugby team, the Red Roses, on October 10, 2023. The visit aimed to provide students with insights into professional rugby operations as the team prepares for the upcoming Six Nations Championship.
During the visit, students interacted with players and coaching staff, learning about training regimens and team dynamics. One student remarked, “This opportunity has given us a unique perspective on what it takes to compete at such a high level.”
The Red Roses, who are the reigning Six Nations champions, will begin their title defense in February 2024. The students toured training facilities and observed practice sessions, fostering a deeper understanding of the sport and its professional context.
St. Mary’s University has a strong focus on sports science and management, offering programs that prepare students for careers in athletics. This initiative exemplifies the university’s commitment to blending education with real-world experiences.
The Six Nations Championship is an annual international rugby union competition involving England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales. The upcoming tournament is highly anticipated following the Red Roses’ previous successes.
