Nabin Blames Congress for Crime in Assam’s Barak Valley
Assam’s Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies, Nabin Das, accused previous Congress governments of transforming the Barak Valley into a crime hub driven by vote bank politics. He made these statements during a public rally in Silchar on Saturday.
Das claimed that the Congress party prioritized political gain over public safety, allowing criminal activities to flourish in the region. “The Congress party’s negligence has led to the deterioration of law and order in Barak Valley,” he stated.
The minister’s remarks come amid rising crime rates and unrest in the area, which has seen increased violence and political tension in recent years. Local residents have expressed concerns about safety and security, prompting calls for government intervention.
Earlier this month, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the need for strict law enforcement measures to combat rising crime. Under his leadership, the state government has implemented various initiatives aimed at restoring peace and security in the region.
The Barak Valley, significantly affected by socioeconomic issues, has long been a focal point for political rivalry in Assam. The region has faced challenges, including ethnic tensions and political instability, contributing to the ongoing crime problems.
