Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology has transformed football officiating since its introduction into major leagues and tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup in 2018. VAR systems utilize multiple camera angles and video feeds to review incidents that may have been missed or inaccurately judged by match officials. This technology is activated for four key situations: goals, penalty calls, red cards, and mistaken identity.
